Daily Mirror interview with Electro Godfathers
August 4 2008

Friday's edition of The Daily Mirror featured a lively interview with the Godfathers of Electro who are currently preparing for the Steel City Tour.
The lead singers of Heaven 17, Human League and ABC discuss the impact they have all had on UK music plus old rivalry.
'Glenn was making 'Penthouse & Pavement' in the studio at the same time we were recording', says Philip Oakey. 'I hated everyone else who was going to threaten our ability to make hits. I was terrified that we were going to fail.'

Glenn reveals that H17 only finished paying off recording debts from 1983's lush album 'The Luxury Gap' as recently as 18 months ago and tells the tale of how he once swam naked with Philip Oakey and two lady friends in a resevoir.
'Perhaps no one should have been drinking the water after that' says Glenn.

H17's roof top electro performance
August 2 2008

Electro's premier sound alchemists Heaven 17 performed a unique one-off gig in the Steel City last week 12 floors up on one of Sheffield's tallest buildings.

Glenn and Martyn played an hour long set with classics that included 'Let Me Go', 'Come Live With Me', 'We Live So Fast', 'Crushed By The Wheels Of Industry' and 'Temptation' from the roof top of Hallam University whilst the gig was shown on huge screens in the park below.

South Yorkshire paper The Star reports: 'Crowds gathered, sitting on the campus steps drinking beer in glorious evening sunshine, while the group went through an hour-long set featuring their massive hits..'

The Hallum gig proved to be the perfect warm-up for the forthcoming Steel City Tour that will see Heaven 17 once again returning to Sheffield in December along with ABC and the band that Martyn originally formed back in 1977 wth Ian Craig Marsh - The Human League.
